The god Quetzalcoatl once took the shape of a man, and started traveling around the world. After one full day of walking he was tired and hungry, when the moon and stars rose upon the earth he sat for a rest and saw a little rabbit eating.
- What are you eating – he asked
- I'm eating grass, do you want some?
- Thank you, but I don't eat grass
- What are you going to do then?
- Die of hunger and thirst, I guess
Hearing this the rabbit told him: “I am just a little rabbit, but if you are hungry you can eat me, here I am.”
Quetzalcoatl patted the rabbit: “Maybe you are just a little rabbit, but the whole world forever, will remember you” and lifted him high, so high, to the moon, where the shape of the rabbit was stamped, and then took him back to earth.
- There you have your portrait in light, for all men and for all times.
