The archeological zone of Mitla –meaning place of rest in Zapotec language– 43 km. away from the city of Oaxaca was the last pre-hispanic site built in the state. The main characteristics of its building are the patterns (grecas) decorating the walls of the entire city. The site is surrounded by the town of San Pablo Villa de Mitla.
