Following the Totonaca tradition, 5 dancers climb to the top of a pole 30 meters off the ground. Four of them hang down from ropes while the main dancer remains at the top playing a flute and a little drum facing the east where life begins. The whole ceremony symbolizes the cycle of life where the four dancers spin around the sun 13 times, which represents the 52 weeks of the year and the 52 years of a solar cycle.
